  26.           The _g_h_o_s_t_v_i_e_w program provides an X11 user interface for the
  27.           _g_h_o_s_t_s_c_r_i_p_t interpreter.  _G_h_o_s_t_v_i_e_w and _g_h_o_s_t_s_c_r_i_p_t function
  28.           as two cooperating programs.  _G_h_o_s_t_v_i_e_w creates the viewing
  29.           window and _g_h_o_s_t_s_c_r_i_p_t draws in it.
  30.
  31.           Don't be alarmed by the number of options.  Generally, one
  32.           invokes _g_h_o_s_t_v_i_e_w with just one parameter, the name of the
  33.           file to be previewed.  If the filename is ``-'', _g_h_o_s_t_v_i_e_w
  34.           will read from ``stdin''.  The options provide a way to set
  35.           X resources from the command line for a single invocation of
  36.           _g_h_o_s_t_v_i_e_w.  For that reason, discussion of the options is
  37.           delayed until after the X resources are discussed.

  40.           The main viewport is on the right side of the main window.
  41.           If the page is larger than the viewport, there will be
  42.           scroll bars along the bottom and right edges of the
  43.           viewport.  To the left of the viewport is the table of
  44.           contents.  If the PostScript file has document structuring
  45.           convention (DSC) comments, the table of context will display
  46.           the page labels (i.e. usually page numbers).  To the left of
  47.           the table of contents is the menu box.  Each push button
  48.           brings up a popup menu.  Over the menu box and table of
  49.           contents there are three optional labels that contain the
  50.           title, date, and locator.  The title label contains the
  51.           document title found in the DSC comments.  If no title can
  52.           be found, the filename is used in its place.  The date label
  53.           contains the document date found in the DSC comments.  If no
  54.           date can be found, the last modified date of the file is
  55.           used in its place.  Since the title and date labels may be
  56.           clipped by the main viewport, the date and title labels are
  57.           push buttons that bring up a popup window with the title or
  58.           date.  These popup windows also show the ``document'' icon

  74.           locator shows the location of the cursor in the viewport.
  75.           The location is expressed in the default user coordinate
  76.           system.  The locator is useful for measuring bounding boxes.
  77.
  78.           Within the main viewport the mouse cursor is a ``target''
  79.           when _g_h_o_s_t_s_c_r_i_p_t is doing work.  The cursor is a ``cross
  80.           hair'' when _g_h_o_s_t_s_c_r_i_p_t is idle.  When moving to another
  81.           page in a document, it is generally best to wait for
  82.           _g_h_o_s_t_s_c_r_i_p_t to become idle.  Otherwise, the current
  83.           _g_h_o_s_t_s_c_r_i_p_t process must be killed and the overhead of
  84.           reading the prologue is incurred again.
  85.
  86.           _G_h_o_s_t_v_i_e_w will check to see if the file has been modified
  87.           just before it displays a page or when the application is
  88.           deiconified.  If the file has changed, it will reopen the
  89.           file.
  90.
  91.           Clicking anywhere within the viewport will popup a zoom
  92.           window.  The window is centered about the location that was
  93.           clicked.  Clicking with the first mouse button pops up a low
  94.           resolution zoom window.  Clicking with the second mouse
  95.           button pops up a medium resolution zoom window.  Clicking
  96.           with the third mouse button pops up a high resolution zoom
  97.           window.  The cursor in the zoom window will display a
  98.           ``target'' or ``cross hair'' depending on the state of
  99.           _g_h_o_s_t_s_c_r_i_p_t.  The locator reports the position of the cursor
  100.           in the zoom windows as well as the main viewport.
  101.
  102.           In the table of contents, the first and third mouse button
  103.           function exactly as they do in a Text widget.  That is the
  104.           first mouse button selects text and the third mouse button
  105.           extends selections.  However, clicking on a page label with
  106.           the second mouse button will cause that page to be shown.
  107.           The page being displayed is marked with a '<' in the right

  113.           is requested.  The _i_n_f_o_r_m_a_t_i_o_n window appears whenever the
  114.           _g_h_o_s_t_s_c_r_i_p_t process writes to ``stdout'' or ``stderr''.
  115.           Whenever there is an error in the PostScript program, the
